Editor’s Note: TED issue a warning on this talk, despite the widespread knowledge that the chemical imbalance theory is a myth i.e. has never been proven. Maybe this is an indicator of the power of biomedical psychiatry and big pharma in attempting to repress straight-talking and honest testimonials in mental health. Which is not to take away from this powerful talk.

When Joe Tudor first went to see his doctor, he believed his depression was the result of a problem with his brain. What Joe discovered challenged everything he thought he knew about depression and mental health. Through research, open conversations, and a commitment to personal growth, Joe discovered a more evidence-based and hopeful approach to depression. Joe’s talk aims to empower you to make informed decisions, whether you’re facing depression yourself or looking to support someone in need. Joe Tudor is the Founder of Reconnect Club, a social enterprise that helps people find the community and tools they need when they’re experiencing depression. Through Public Speaking, Mental Health Campaigning and Reconnect Club, Joe uses his own experience of depression to help others find the understanding and hope they need to grow from life’s challenges. Watch Joe’s talk to discover a new perspective on depression and mental health. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
