A protest organised by MindFreedom Ireland takes place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3.00 pm at the General Post Office (GPO) in Dublin, continuing the campaign against the use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
MindFreedom Ireland, a volunteer-run organisation founded in 2003, is a psychiatric survivor-led movement advocating for human rights and alternatives in mental health care. Mindfreedom calls for a “non-violent revolution” in mental health services, arguing for greater patient rights, informed consent, and alternatives to conventional psychiatric treatments.
